Food Donation Comes Just In Time
January 5, 2010 — Oswego resident and Sterling Renaissance Festival Owner Doug Waterbury recently donated over $10,000 worth of food products to the Oswego Salvation Army this past holiday season.According to Oswego Salvation Army Major Corinne Hayes, the food was distributed very quickly upon receipt as a result of an increased community need this year.
“His timing was perfect,” said Hayes. “Our requests for food have seen a tremendous increase and our holiday food donations were down almost 90% from last year, so Mr. Waterbury’s donation was an answer to our prayer,” said Hayes.
The Waterbury food donation consisted of meats, seafood, potatoes, breads, and desserts.
The Oswego Salvation Army provided Christmas presents and Christmas dinners for over 300 families in 2009, which was double that of 2008.
