Andrew’s Wine Cellar to Hold October Wine Tasting Event

October 4, 2009 — Andrew’s Wine Cellar is celebrating the change of seasons, with a colorful October Wine Tasting event.

An assortment of diverse wineries and distributors including: Coopers Creek Vineyards, Sheldrake Point Winery, Kermit Lynch Wines, and Winesellers, Ltd. will be on hand at the event on Saturday, October 17th from 1-5 p.m.

Richard Hendry of Cooper’s Creek Vineyards in New Zealand will participate, as well as Livia Manfredi, Importer from Winesellers, Ltd., Liz Farley, French Importer of Kermit Lynch Wines, and a representative from Sheldrake Point Vineyards of the Finger Lakes.

“We’re pleased to welcome these four representatives to our next tasting event,” said Andrew Bowman, owner of Andrew’s Wine Cellar. “They each come from excellent wineries and distribution companies, and will offer a unique and colorful selection of wines to sample at our fall event.”

Andrew and Cynthia Hendry established Coopers Creek Vineyards in 1980 in the heart of the Huapai and Kumeu wine region in New Zealand. The location and its outstanding cool climate, make for excellent wine grape conditions, ideal for producing very highest quality wines. Coopers Creek has won numerous awards over the years. Recently their 2008 Pinot Gris received a Gold Medal at the International Aromatic Wine Competition, in October 2008 and their 2007 Gisborne Unoaked Chardonnay received Four Stars & BEST BUY - from Cuisine Magazine in May of 2009.

Sheldrake Point Vineyard is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes near Ithaca, New York. Founded in 1997, Sheldrake Point specializes in the classic European grape varietals. The appropriate components of fruit flavor, acid, tannin, sweetness and the deft use of oak barrels are clearly expressed and are sought after with every vintage they produce. Sheldrake Point’s 2007 Finger Lakes Riesling was recently listed as one of 45 value brands of the year in Wine Spectator magazine. They were also named “2009 Winery of The Year” at the New York Wine and Food Classic Competition.

In 1972 Kermit Lynch opened a retail wine shop and later began importing and distributing nationally. By 2000 he was named Wine Professional of the Year by the James Beard Foundation. Today Kermit Lynch Wines specialize in French wine distribution.

Winesellers, Ltd. is a globally recognized, importer and marketer of fine wines from around the world to the U.S. market. They strive to represent quality wines that are fairly priced and worthy of their sales efforts. Winesellers, Ltd.’s portfolio includes many well-known wineries such as Hope Estate out of Australia, and Familia Zuccardi of Bodega, Argentina.
