Entergy to sponsor the 19th Annual Rite Aid Drug Quiz Show

January 25, 2010 — Entergy will again this year, sponsor the 19th annual Oswego County Rite Aid Drug Quiz Show at the SUNY Oswego Phoenix Extension Center on March 12th at 9:00am. This year marks Entergy’s 13th year providing support for this annual community event. Parents and the general public are invited.

The Rite Aid Drug Quiz Show is an educational prevention program providing middle school students with skills and information to help them make important life decisions provided in an exciting game show format. In New York State, the Rite Aid Drug Quiz Show provides alcohol, drug, and tobacco education and information to more than 30,000 middle school students.

Middle school students from across the county competing this year include Fulton Junior High School, Hannibal Junior High, Mexico Middle School, Oswego Middle School, Emerson J. Dillon Middle School in Phoenix, Pulaski Junior High School and Sandy Creek Junior High.

The winning team of this year's Oswego County competition will advance to the Regional Playoffs at the Marley Education Center in Syracuse on April 7, 2010.  The top 4 teams will then advance to the New York State Finals on May 10th at the Doubletree Hotel in Syracuse.  

The event is coordinated by the Oswego County Department of Social Services (Division of Mental Hygiene and Division of Youth Services), Farnham Family Services, Oswego County Probation, Oswego City/County Youth Bureau, Oswego County Health Department, the LifeStyles Center at SUNY Oswego and the County of Oswego Council on Alcoholism & Addictions (COCOAA).

Additional sponsors include Oswego County Stop-DWI, Valti Graphics, and Lupien’s Gifts and Engraving.  Peer educators and staff from the Lifestyles Center at SUNY Oswego will assist program coordinators the day of the event, leading activities for students.
